Plan for success
In order to achieve your goals you MUST HAVE A PLAN!!! Again, success doesn't just happen - you've got to work for it, but it doesn't have to be difficult, just follow a plan, adjust the plan as you go, and stick to it!!
A plan is also not a comprehensive 20 page document that has to be rigid, it can be a 1 pager - the important thing is to have the fundamental parts of the plan, i.e. 1. What is my goal 2. What do I need to do to achieve it in the time frame required 3. What resources do I need 4. What tasks need to be completed by when 5. What is the chronological order of these tasks 6. Start and end date SIMPLE ISN'T IT!!! |
FAILING TO PLAN IS PLANNING TO FAIL!!!
creating the planWhere do I start?
Start with the first goal (a small one) - make a detailed list of all the things you need to do to achieve that goal, try and be as detailed as you can. Don't worry about the order of events right now - just write everything that comes to mind. Once you have done this, put a column next to each task and write down what resources you'll need to complete the task, e.g. money, research, training, help, etc. Now you will be able to work out what needs to be done before the next task can be done - so start arranging the tasks in chronological order. When that is complete - put dates next to each task WOW -YOU HAVE A PLAN!! |
Implement THE pLANBy now you should be feeling quite excited to get started, because you can see the whole roadmap to success in front of you - and it doesn't seem that difficult anymore does it!!
The most important thing to do is start immediately - take that first step to success by doing the first task on your list. Once you've completed the task, allow yourself a small celebration. It is very important that you recognise and acknowledge your achievements no matter how big or small they are - this will be your motivating driver to continue with the next step. Stay with it - make sure that the first thing you do every day is check your progress and plan what needs to be done next into your day so that it becomes part of your everyday life. |
